In Australia, at least when I went to Tafe. There was Light Vehicle (Cars), Heavy Vehicle (Road Transport), Heavy Vehicle (Plant), Heavy Vehicle (Agriculture). For Some Reason, the term "Diesel Mechanic" has become like slang for Heavy Vehicle Road Transport, and can mislead people outside of the Industry. My trade that I have Completed is Heavy Vehicle ; Road Transport , I have worked primarily only on Trucks for my entire Career.
Even though, I fundamentally understand the mechanics involved on these - it it not my area of expertise, I have very little in the way of experience when it comes to light vehicle's. Also, I dont exactly have a network, suppliers, or specialised tooling for this category. Although I wouldn't turn down someone who was in an emergency situation - my advise would be to seek out any of the various guys that do cars, they do cover diesel engines in TAFE in that trade.
I can do some work on plant, I do have at least some experience on Plant gear, Although I stress that it is not my trade, or my speciality.
I can do 24/7 assistance sometimes, if banner at top of page reads "24/7 Assistance Available" then call me at anytime.
Currently I can not do that- It is one of my long-term goals however.
For now, I am purely Mobile only.
I frequently travel as far as Blacktown, Hawkesbury, Lithgow - but I'm happy to travel further, providing I'm compensated fairly to do so.
